After 12 years working in the telecommunications industry for several companies including Nortel, founder and president Peter Frank, M.Sc., began his own consulting business in January 2006. During its inaugural year, project involvement included satellite and terrestrial antenna, optical modules, point-to-point radio components, and high speed interconnects for several companies across North America.

By the fall of 2006, due to the overwhelming success of the business and the desire to further establish its business relationships, the idea was conceived to incorporate. In November 2006, Petra Microwave Ltd. was born.
